The Egyptian women’s solidarity with Sarah Hegazi’s story did not cease due to fears of perhaps having to eventually face suicide themselves, for every girl of this class would have met the same fate in case she’d decided to rebel against the system, or as one of them expressed briefly and eloquently: “we are Sarah Hegazi’s illegitimate sisters, and maybe the same fate awaits us…”
